Arbitration court ruling major diplomatic victory for Pakistan: Leghari

Federal Minister for Power Sardar Awais Ahmad Khan Leghari on Monday termed the decision announced by the Court of Arbitration regarding the Indus Waters Treaty (IWT) a significant diplomatic victory for Pakistan.

ISLAMABAD, Aug 31 (APP): Federal Minister for Power Sardar Awais Ahmad Khan Leghari on Monday termed the decision announced by the Court of Arbitration regarding the Indus Waters Treaty (IWT) a significant diplomatic victory for Pakistan.
In a post on X, the minister said India’s rejection of the decision was further isolating it internationally.
“India is questioning the constitution of this court in The Hague,” Leghari said, adding that India was presenting itself as an “extreme, aggressive and hardline neighbour.”
He said Pakistan had consistently described India in similar terms and added that the international community was now increasingly viewing India as a country willing to deprive Pakistan’s population of food by restricting its water resources.
Leghari expressed hope that India would never succeed in its “nefarious designs.”
