ISLAMABAD, Aug 24 (APP): A day long conclave of bureau
chiefs and station in charges of Associated Press of Pakistan
Corporation (APP) concluded here with the resolve to further
revamp and streamline the editorial working of the premier news agency.
Managing Director Masood Malik presiding over the meeting
urged the bureau heads to ensure fast flow of news highlighting development activities of the government, especially in education, health and social sectors to the subscribers.
He directed the bureau chiefs and station managers to
particularly highlight China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) projects.
The conclave was attended by bureau chiefs of Islamabad,
Karachi, Lahore, Quetta, Peshawar, Hyderabad, Faisalabad and Rawalpindi, besides station in charges of Multan, Bahawalpur, Sargodha, Sialkot, Abbottabad, Azad Jammu and Kashmir, Sukkur, Gilgit and Larkana. The Executive Director, Director Coordination, Director News, Chief News Editor and In charge Urdu Service were also present.
During the discussions, the Managing Director
reiterated that the hallmark of the news agency was the
dissemination of credible and authentic news to the subscribers and it would continue to hold this exclusive preserve in future.
The bureau chiefs and station managers were advised to ensure proper and prompt editing of local as well as national news items to meet the requirements of print subscribers.
They were also directed to ensure the coverage of important
activities at the grassroots level by the professional tiers of
district correspondents, and the fast transmission of news items to subscribers as it would help capture greater space in the print media.
The professional heads of bureaus and stations were also
advised to ensure the allocation of proper beats to their reporters for effective coverage of events.
The bureau chiefs and station in charges shared the problems of their respective offices with the Managing Director.
They were assured that necessary steps would be taken to
address their issues. They were assured the provision of
professional equipment to enable them perform their duties in a more effective way.
Appreciating the brainstorming session held at the head
office, the bureau chiefs and station in charges stressed the need to make such meetings a regular feature for their guidance and sensitization.
Later, a dinner, hosted by Managing Director Masood Malik in
honour of the participants, was also attended by former heads of the organisation, including M Aftab, Mufti Jamiluddin Ahmed, Tariq Imam, Ashfaq Gondal, Rai Riaz Hussain, Muhammad Riaz, Ghulam Hazoor Bajwa and Ejaz Ahmed.
