Apology tendered without any pressure: Khawaja Asif

ISLAMABAD June 9 (APP): Minister for Defence Khawaja Muhammad
Asif on Thursday said he has tendered apology on indecent
remarks in National Assembly without any pressure or inducement.

“This is my personal initiative. I am not under pressure
to apologize. I apologized only keeping in mind the prestige of
the House and my personal political standing,” he said in a
private news channel program.

“I am mindful of my contribution to the Parliament and
political system and I think such remarks may stain my political
standing in the parliament,” he added.

Asif clarified that his remarks were not addressed to
any individual male or female, rather it was general comment in
view of uproar in the House.

He however stated that female members should have not reacted
in the manner they have done because when they demand parity with
men, they should not take refuge behind feminism when any
such situation arises.

“This is not a principled approach rather it is
discrimination. They should not take refuge behind feminism,” he added.

“Any how I have tendered unconditional apology on what I
have stated,” he added.
