ISLAMABAD, Dec 13 (APP):Minister for Human Rights Dr.Shrireen Mazari on Thursday said the Anti-Torture Bill will be retabled in the National Assembly by the end of January 2019 .
Talking to APP DR. Mazari said It would retable the Anti-Torture Bill which was presented by Senator Farhatullah Babar in 2014 and passed by the Senate but was lapsed due to delay in the National Assembly.
The ministry has done a comparative study of two bills which was currently lying with the interior Ministry and would be soon sent to the Cabinet’s Committee on Legislation. Hopefully, it would be tabled again in the National Assembly in its session in January, she added.
She further said there would be no further delay in presenting the bill as Pakistan was a signatory to the International Anti-Torture Convention and was taking measures to implement its commitments.
