ISLAMABAD, Jul 28 (APP):Awami National Party (ANP) Central President Senator Aimal Wali Khan on Tuesday said the country is not run by personalities but by the Constitution, emphasizing the need for the full and impartial implementation of the Constitution, free and transparent elections, the supremacy of Parliament, and adherence to constitutional boundaries.
He expressed these views while addressing the party’s 40th foundation day ceremony at the National Press Club, organized by the ANP, Federal Capital Islamabad.
Aimal Wali Khan said that the 18th Constitutional Amendment and true federalism are the guarantees of Pakistan’s strength, while the fair distribution of resources, provincial autonomy, and the devolution of powers to local governments are the need of the hour.
He said past wrong policies should be held accountable impartially, adding that the state and society must stand united against terrorism so that terrorists do not get a chance to regroup.
He emphasized that young people should be provided with quality education, employment opportunities, and a meaningful role in political decision-making.
He also stressed that women should be given genuine leadership opportunities and religious minorities should enjoy equal rights.
Aimal Wali Khan said that the constitutional and civil rights of the people must be fully protected.
“We pay tribute to the sacrifices of soldiers, government employees, political workers, and ordinary citizens,” he added.
Aimal Wali Khan noted that the party is the custodian of Bacha Khan’s philosophy of non-violence, democracy, the supremacy of the Constitution, and the protection of public rights.
He said the party’s workers would continue to raise their voices at every forum for the service of the people and the protection of their rights under this ideology.
In addition to the party’s Central President, Senator Aimal Wali Khan, the ceremony was attended by a large number of central and provincial leaders, office-bearers, and workers, including Central General Secretary Brigadier (retd) Dr. Salim Khan, Provincial President Abdul Rahim Khan, and Islamabad Federal Capital President Saddam Khan.
