ISLAMABAD, Jun 21 (APP): Civil society members, animal-friendly citizens, activists and animal rights experts have called for humane treatment towards strayed dogs at stray dog population control center working under Capital Development Authority (CDA), emphasizing it working against the rights of every voiceless.
Speaking at press conference at the National Press Club Islamabad (NPC) here Saturday, the participants including Altamush Saeed, renowned actress Mishi Khan,George, Anila, Paresh Khan and others highlighted the lack of medical expertise, animal friendly behavior, training facilities and etc for stray dogs at the center, citing that the negligence might poses risks not only to animal welfare but also to public health, said a press release on Saturday.
They reiterated that the cruelties and inhumane treatment towards stray dog there clearly indicated lack of attention towards animals, demanding the dignity, protection and humane treatment of the city’s stray dogs.
They noted that their struggle in this regard not a fight of any specific group, but a joint effort of civil society, citizens, activists, veterinary doctors, lawyers, journalists, students neighbors and other, who believe in compassion and justice.
They also informed that the matter will soon be taken to the Islamabad High Court (IHC) once again, as the previous decision still not implemented.
