ISLAMABAD, Mar 14 (APP):Prime Minister Imran Khan on Thursday announced that nest year all cricket matches of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) would be played in home grounds due to improved security situation in the country.
“Being a cricketer I know well how boring is to play in a deserted stadium,” he said after launching Pakistan’s online visa regime here at the Prime Minister Office.
The prime minister referred to the difficult phase of fight against terrorism through which Pakistan had passed and credited the security and intelligence agencies for bringing back peace in the country.
“…Pakistan is now a secure country. All the matches of next year’s PSL will be held in Pakistan,” he announced.
The prime minister, who was confident about the improved security situation in Pakistan, however, expressed his apprehensions in the wake of elections being held in India, where politics of hatred was used by some for winning the polls.
He said as the country desired good relations with all of its neighbours, including India, Pakistan was set to emerge as a peaceful and prosperous nation.
Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi while speaking on the occasion, said Prime Minister Imran Khan and the whole nation deserved felicitations on the historic launching of online visa regime.
He said the online visa regime was surely opening a new door for Pakistan depicting enhanced confidence of the government which was moving fast with its successful foreign, interior and economic policies.
The foreign minister said as the masses voted the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) to power with confidence, the government would was committed to and working with full sincerity to make a new Pakistan.
He said the way the whole nation stood united to foil the Indian aggression, was commendable and also showed the country’s commitment for peace.
Earlier, Minister of State for Interior Shehryar Khan Afridi, in his welcome remarks, presented some highlights of the new online visa regime offered to 175 countries to attract tourists and promote tourism in Pakistan.
He said under the pilot project tourists from five countries, including China, the United Kingdom, Turkey, Malaysia and the United Arab Emirates were being offered the facility of e-visa and those from 50 countries the facility of visa on arrival, while citizens from 90 countries would be given business visas.
