ISLAMABAD, Nov 05 (APP):Federal Minister for Communications, Abdul Aleem Khan, on Wednesday visited the Islamabad–Murree Expressway to inspect the ongoing development works and review final preparations for the project’s completion.
The Minister expressed satisfaction over the significant progress and commended the National Highway Authority (NHA) team for upgrading the Islamabad–Murree Expressway to international standards, said a press release.
He noted that the Expressway, which attracts hundreds of thousands of visitors every year to the country’s most popular hill station, has been modernized to provide a safer, smoother, and more comfortable travel experience.
Abdul Aleem Khan highlighted that the entire Expressway has been illuminated with a state-of-the-art lighting system, ensuring better visibility and safety for travelers at night. He added that safety measures have been further enhanced with the deployment of Motorway Police, who will ensure smooth traffic flow and assist commuters throughout the route.
The Minister mentioned that new, fully equipped rest areas have also been established to offer necessary facilities and comfort to travelers.
He stated that the project is now nearing completion and will soon be formally inaugurated by the Prime Minister. Abdul Aleem Khan emphasized that this initiative reflects the government’s commitment to providing world-class infrastructure, promoting tourism, and ensuring convenience for the public.
