Aleem Khan reviews construction works on Islamabad-Murree Expressway

ISLAMABAD, Jul 07 (APP): Federal Minister for Communications, Abdul Aleem Khan undertook a visit to inspect the ongoing construction and up gradation works on the Islamabad-Murree Expressway.

Accompanied by senior officers, the minister instructed that the pace of work be accelerated and directed about beautification of both sides of the Murree Expressway with green belts. He set a target date of July 30 for the reconstruction of the Murree Toll Plaza and linked with the E-Tag System, said a press release issued on Monday.

He further directed that local residents of Murree would be exempted from toll charges through token-free access. Highlighting the strategic importance of the Islamabad-Murree Expressway as a major tourism route, the minister stated, this road not only connects Rawalpindi and Islamabad but also serves tourists from across the country. “As the gateway to Murree, known as the ‘Queen of the Hills’, this Expressway must reflect a positive and appealing image,” he emphasized.

Abdul Aleem Khan instructed about the installation of decorative lighting, comprehensive landscaping and timely completion of other beautification works. He directed the officers of National Highway Authority to ensure that the road remains safe and comfortable for commuters both day and night. He also issued directions to construct aesthetically pleasing boundary walls along with the Murree-Expressway to enhance the feelings for travelers. Moreover, he ordered the closure of all unauthorized access points and removal of illegal constructions to prevent disruptions to the traffic flow.
During the inspection tour, citizens at various points welcomed the federal minister and appreciated his efforts regarding construction and up gradation work on the Islamabad-Murree Expressway. On-site, Abdul Aleem Khan assigned specific tasks to senior officials regarding toll plaza construction and related matters, directing that all work must be completed within the stipulated timeframe. The Federal Secretary for Communications and the Chairman of the National Highway Authority were also present during the visit.
