Aleem Khan reaffirms Pakistan’s support for Kashmiris on Black Day

ISLAMABAD, Oct 27 (APP):Federal Minister for Communications Abdul Aleem Khan on Tuesday reaffirmed Pakistan’s unwavering moral, political and diplomatic support for the people of Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK), saying decades of oppression had failed to suppress their aspirations for freedom.
In a message on Kashmir Black Day, observed on October 27, he said the day recalled the arrival of Indian troops in Jammu and Kashmir in 1947 and the beginning of decades of oppression and denial of the Kashmiri people’s fundamental rights.
The minister said the people of Kashmir had been denied their fundamental right to self-determination, a right acknowledged by India’s leadership at the time and subsequently reaffirmed through several United Nations Security Council resolutions.
He said the revocation of Article 370 in August 2019 had ushered in a new phase of restrictions on civil liberties and fundamental rights in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir.
Despite attempts to alter the region’s demographic composition, Pakistan remained firmly committed to extending moral, political and diplomatic support to the Kashmiri people, he added.
Abdul Aleem Khan said India’s efforts to bring about demographic changes in the occupied territory would not succeed, just as decades of repression and violence had failed to weaken the Kashmiri people’s resolve for freedom.
