ISLAMABAD, Jul 21 (APP): Federal Minister for Communications Abdul Aleem Khan has directed senior officials of the National Highway Authority (NHA) to ensure timely completion and long-term sustainability of infrastructure projects, stressing the need for high construction standards and a forward-looking approach spanning the next three decades.
Chairing a high-level meeting at the NHA Punjab Region Office, the minister emphasized the urgent completion of pending development work from Multan Road to Ring Road, cautioning that no compromise would be tolerated on quality or timelines, said a press release on Monday.
Aleem Khan told that Lahore-Sialkot Motorway will be extended from 4 to 6 lanes and connected from Kharian to Islamabad. This new linkage is expected to ease traffic congestion on the existing Lahore-Islamabad Motorway M-2, reduce travel distance by 100 kilometers and shorten journey time by approximately one hour, he added.
Highlighting the regional impact, Abdul Aleem Khan said that this Motorway will also connect Gujranwala, Gujrat, Kharian, Jhelum and Gujar Khan Districts, offering significant travel convenience for residents commuting between Lahore and Islamabad.
During the high-level meeting, the Federal Minister sought progress reports on ongoing NHA projects and issued key directives regarding new interchanges and infrastructure initiatives in the Punjab Region.
The meeting was attended by the Federal Secretary for Communications, Chairman of National Highway Authority and the CEO of RUDA who briefed the Federal Minister on their departmental matters.
Following the meeting, Federal Minister for Communications Abdul Aleem Khan accompanied by senior officers inspected the ongoing expansion work on Multan Road, issuing on-site directives at various locations, as well.
He also instructed officers to enhance development efforts and tasked them to beautify the stretch of Multan Road till Hadyara Drain and Ring Road.
On this occasion, citizens warmly welcomed the Federal Minister for Communications Abdul Aleem Khan at various points along his visit and appreciated the developmental work being carried out on Multan Road for the convenience of traveler.
