AJK president stresses youth to play role in peace, development of country

ISLAMABAD, April 28 (APP):President of Azad Jammun and Kahsmir (AJK) Sardar Masood Khan Saturday said youth are the real asset and they should play their vital role for the peace, stability, and sustainable development of the country.
He expressed these views while addressing the 19th Convocation of Bahria University as a chief guest held here. Rector Bahria University conferred upon the degrees on the graduating students of PhD, MPhil, Masters and Undergraduate programmes.
As many as 839 degrees were conferred to the undergraduate and graduate students of Management Sciences, Humanities and Social Sciences, Computer Sciences,  Law, Earth and Environmental Sciences, Electrical Engineering and Software Engineering Departments.
Sardar Masood Khan awarded 23 Gold and 20 Silver medals, degrees and certificates to various students who achieved top positions in their respective programmes. Before award of medals, degrees to other undergraduate students were awarded DG Campus Bahria University and to MPhil, MS and MBA students by Rector Bahria University.
Addressing on the occasion, Sardar Masood Khan congratulated the graduating students on their splendid success and lauded Bahria University Islamabad Campus for providing exceptional knowledge skills to the graduated students in their respective disciplines enabling them to lead a professionally rewarding life.
He appreciated the role of Bahria University for contributing in strengthening human resource of the country.
He said, “You are about to embark on your own extraordinary journeys and shape your own adventures. Your hard work has paid off. Those pressured times of examinations are now all behind you.
The real work however has only just begun. I am confident that Bahria University has equipped you to deal with these challenges”.
He appreciated the efforts of University management for emphasizing on skills development of the students that will make Bahria University an attractive institution for teaching and learning.
He encouraged the graduating students by advising them to be original, creative and to follow their passion and dreams; urging the academia to contribute something of value to the society.
He said despite facing many factors, the economy of the country is emerging since last few years and added that Pakistan should be among top ten prosperous and developed countries of the world.
The president while criticizing the atrocities of India Army against the innocent people of Jammun and Kashmir said they are killing our youth and attacking them with knife guns which resulted blindness of many people.
It is the national responsibility to defend the stance of Kashmiries and express the solidarity with them through social media, he added.
Masood said is one of the beautiful land on earth and urged the youth to visit it. “We are spotting around 200 best places of the AJK for tourists under tourism corridor” the president remarked.
“We are also focusing on the different sectors of AJK including academics, telecom network, sports and establishment of new parks” he added.
Earlier, in his welcome address Rector Bahria University Vice Admiral (R) Muhammad Shafiq HI(M) expressed his gratitude to Sardar Masood Khan for his presence in the convocation.
He further added that we at Bahria University have done our best to equip our students with necessary institutional tools, fundamental principles of conducting scholastic enquiry, training for communication and interpersonal skills and above all the guidance to conduct well in life.
He acknowledged particularly the role of HEC, Punjab Government and other organizations for sponsoring number of scholarships for students of Bahria University as they are helping to provide an opportunity to students coming from low income background to pursue quality education.
In the end, Rector Bahria University congratulated the students and their parents, wishing them a prosperous future and also appreciated the students winning medals in recognition of their outstanding performance.
