MIRPUR (AJK), Aug 20 (APP): The AJK leaders on Saturday hailed Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Secretary General Iyad Ameen Madani for expressing serious concern over the ongoing massive human rights abuses in the Indian Occupied Kashmir (IOK).
“By voicing grave concern over increased human rights violations in IOK along with Advisor to the Prime Minister of Pakistan on Foreign Affairs Sartaj Aziz, Madni has once again apprised the world that the Islamic world is always concerned over the situation in the IOK,” said Chaudhry Muhammad Saeed, Member of Azad Jammu & Kashmir Legislative Assembly.
Talking to APP, he said the Indian occupational forces had unleashed the reign of state terrorism in held Kashmir to gag the voice of freedom-loving people of the internationally-acknowledged disputed held state.
Saeed said the people of Jammu & Kashmir were thankful to the OIC Secretary General for reiterating the desire of his organization for the early peaceful settlement of the Kashmir issue.
He said it was the result of the successful foreign policy of Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif-led government on the Kashmir issue that the whole world, including the Islamic countries, was fully supporting Islamabad’s just and principled stance on the lingering Kashmir conflict – voicing for the early peaceful solution of the Kashmir issue through meaningful dialogue between the two countries.
Welcoming the statement of OIC Secretary General on the current rights situation of IOK, Jammu Kashmir National Front Vice Chairman Altaf Hussain Wani said that the people of held state were under siege. The Indian army and para-military forces had crossed all limits perpetrating barbarities on the people of held Kashmir.
Wani said the Indian government had rejected the request of United Nations High Commissioner for sending a fact finding mission to IOK. International community had largely remained silent which had encouraged India to continue its brutal regime, he added.
“The statement of OIC secretary General Ameen Madni will be a torch-bearer for all others to follow suit and remind India of its international obligations towards human rights and its promise made to the people of Kashmir for the implement of UN resolutions,” Wani said.
He urged the OIC Secretary General to ask the human rights commission of OIC to take up the IOK human rights issue at the 33rd session of Human Rights Council in Geneva in September this year.
President Markazi Anjuman-i—Tajraan Mirpur Muhammad Naeem Chaudhry also welcomed the statement of OIC Secretary General supporting Kashmiris’ struggle for the right to self-determination.
Naeem said the concern shown by Madni over Indian brutalities in occupied Kashmir would make the Islamic world to realize their responsibility and perform due role for early peaceful solution of the Kashmir issue, which would pave way for the establishment of permanent peace in South Asia.
