AIOU to promote research-based studies

ISLAMABAD, Nov 27 (APP): Allama Iqbal Open University(AIOU) started a business-talks series to promote research-based studies for providing academic input to public and private-sector business institutions for their progress.
In line with socio-economic needs of the country, first event of the series held here at the University’s main campus to deliberate upon the issue of `Financial democracy’.
Prof Dr Safdar Ali Butt, author of 34 text books and expert of financial management was the key-note speaker.Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Shahid Siddiqui hoped that academic talk at the University’s level is an effort to extend a helping hand to public and private sector to improve their businessmen matters.
Experts on relevant business sector will be invited on regular basis to seek their suggestions for promoting healthy trends and concept of good governance in financial matters.
They will enlighten the students about contemporary issues and challenges.
Dr Shahid Siddiqui further said, the University is also planning to activate and upgrade its business and financial sector departments for doing indigenous and community-based research for the benefit of the society.
Three new programs of Master of Business Administration, with specialization in supply-chain management, Public policy and Islamic banking will be introduced from next year, after necessary approval from the University’s Faculty Board.
The event was jointly arranged by Department of Management Sciences and Department of Commerce. Dr Safdar Ali Butt briefed the participants about new business techniques in financial matters.
He also suggested as how to save stakeholders from clutches of family controlled companies. The Board of Directors of the companies should be constituted in a democratic way, instead of putting them under family control.
