ISLAMABAD, Mar 05 (APP):Allama Iqbal Open University (AIOU) and Bahria University (BU) on Thursday signed an agreement to promote higher education in the country and provide students with modern digital facilities.
The MoU was signed by Vice Chancellor AIOU, Professor Dr Nasir Mahmood and Rector Bahria University, Vice Admiral Abid Hameed.
The partnership aims to promote distance and online education in line with modern requirements and to provide students with easier access to quality educational facilities.
Under the agreement, both universities will promote the use of digital technology and online platforms so that students can benefit from improved opportunities to pursue education from home, said a news release issued here.
On this occasion, the Vice Chancellor of AIOU, Prof. Dr Nasir Mahmood said that AIOU has facilities including video recording system, a modern data center and a high-capacity printing press and the university can also extend
cooperation in these areas.
The Rector of Bahria University, Vice Admiral Abid Hameed said that in the present era digital technology plays a key role in promoting education; therefore, modern online facilities will help provide students with greater educational opportunities.
He added that this partnership would not only strengthen academic ties between the two institutions but would also help reinforce the system of distance and online education in the country.
Earlier, AIOU Registrar Raja Umar Younis in his welcome remarks, presented a brief introduction to Allama Iqbal Open University. Asim Raza, Director of Open Distance Learning at Bahria University and Dr Zahid Majeed, Director of Collaboration and Exchange at AIOU, highlighted the facilities and educational services of their respective institutions.
