ISLAMABAD, Nov 13 (APP):Allama Iqbal Open University (AIOU) held its annual Regional Directors Conference (RDC), focusing to offer advanced digital services to other universities, strengthening academic collaboration, resolving students issues on regional level among other key initiatives.
The conference was organized under the chairmanship of Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr Nasir Mahmood, where heads of 53 regional campuses from across the country participated, said a press release on Thursday.
Dr Nasir Mahmood announced that the university would soon launch computer classes in more than two dozen of its regional campus to provide students in remote areas access to modern IT education.
He stated that AIOU’s fees were lower compared to other universities and designed to facilitate maximum students.
The Vice Chancellor further said that AIOU was at the moment ready to offer advanced digital services to other universities, including core courses for BS programs, CMS, LMS and an integrated digital platform.
He directed the regional directors to establish partnerships with local Universities to strengthen academic collaboration.
Dr Nasir Mahmood also announced cash incentives for staff members who contributed to increased student enrollment.
He instructed that all possible facilities be provided to students and that their issues be resolved at the regional level on a priority basis.
He emphasized abandoning the practice of sending students to Islamabad for minor matters to avoid unnecessary travel and time loss.
The Vice Chancellor further directed the Director General to compile a complete record of students who visit Islamabad to resolve their issues and to inquire why they were sent there.
This process would help to improve the system and ensure that future matters are handled efficiently at the regional level, he added.
Director General Regional Services, Dr Malik Tauqir Ahmad Khan stated that the conference would set clear targets and adopt a comprehensive strategy to achieve success.
