ISLAMABAD, Nov 13 (APP):The Pakistan Airports Authority (PAA) on Thursday carried out a comprehensive Full-Scale Fire and Rescue Emergency Exercise at Allama Iqbal International Airport (AIIAP), demonstrating its operational preparedness and commitment to international aviation safety standards.
The large-scale drill, conducted in accordance with the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) guidelines, was designed to evaluate the airport’s ability to respond swiftly and effectively to a simulated aircraft fire emergency.
The exercise tested multiple aspects of crisis management, including firefighting, passenger evacuation, medical triage, communication coordination, and resource mobilization under realistic conditions.
Teams from the Pakistan Air Force, Army Aviation, Airport Security Force (ASF), Airport Health Unit, Rescue 1122, local hospitals, ambulance services, and district emergency agencies took part in the joint operation—their coordinated efforts aimed to assess inter-agency communication, command structure, and on-ground response efficiency.
Chief Operating Officer and Airport Manager of AIIAP lauded the professionalism and teamwork of all participating departments. He emphasized that such exercises are a critical part of ensuring safety preparedness and maintaining compliance with international safety protocols.
“The Pakistan Airports Authority remains committed to upholding the highest standards of aviation safety,” he said, adding that the success of the exercise reflects the readiness of emergency teams to respond effectively to any real-life incident.
The drill concluded successfully, achieving its objectives and earning praise from participants and observers alike for its precision, organization, and adherence to global best practices in airport emergency management.
