GIlGIT, Nov 26 (APP): Federal Minister for Planning, Development and Special Initiatives, Professor Dr. Ahsan Iqbal paid an official visit to the newly constructed Cardiac Hospital in Gilgit on Tuesday. He was accompanied by former Chief Minister Gilgit-Baltistan Hafiz Hafeez-ur-Rehman.

Upon arrival, the minister was received by the Medical Superintendent (MS) of the Hospital, who briefed him in detail about the establishment, facilities and operational readiness of the state-of-the-art cardiac facility. The MS highlighted that the Hospital has been equipped with modern diagnostic and treatment technologies aimed at providing advanced cardiac care to patients from across Gilgit-Baltistan.

Dr. Ahsan Iqbal termed the Cardiac Hospital “a remarkable gift from the PML-N government to the people of Gilgit-Baltistan,” expressing confidence that the facility would greatly reduce the need for heart patients to travel to Islamabad or other major cities for treatment.

He added that the federal government is committed to improving healthcare infrastructure in remote and underserved regions, ensuring that citizens have access to high-quality medical services closer to home.

Former Chief Minister Hafiz Hafeez-ur-Rehman also appreciated the project, stating that the hospital reflects the PML-N’s long-standing vision to strengthen healthcare delivery systems in the mountainous region.

The minister toured various units of the Hospital, assessed the equipment installed and assured full federal support for its operationalization and staffing to make the hospital fully functional at the earliest.
