Ahsan Iqbal stresses political stability to attract foreign investment and ensure sustainable development

ISLAMABAD, Nov 5 (APP):Federal Minister for Planning, Development and Special Initiatives, Ahsan Iqbal, on Thursday stressed the importance of political stability to attract foreign investment for development of the country.
Talking to a private TV channel, he urged all political parties to work together to create a peaceful environment for sustainable development, saying that the politics of violence and confrontation would cause economic damage to the country.
He emphasized that the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) had always steered the country out of difficult situations and put it on the path to economic stability and prosperity, recalling the past development and economy stability during party’s tenure.
He maintained that the country had managed the situation during the difficult time comparatively better than several countries in the region, avoiding long queues at petrol stations and maintaining fuel supplies.
He added that the government was providing a subsidy on fuel particularly to economically disadvantaged segments of society, including two- and three-wheeler users.
He said that political stability, economic policy continuity and zero tolerance for terrorism and violence were essential if Pakistan wanted to achieve sustainable development and compete with other emerging economies.
