ISLAMABAD, Aug 3 (APP):Federal Minister for Planning and Development Ahsan Iqbal on Monday stressed the need for comprehensive governance reforms, saying Pakistan’s limited resources and rapidly growing population have placed great pressure on existing administrative system, which is struggling to deliver services effectively.
Talking to a private news channel, Ahsan Iqbal said significant changes had taken place in Pakistani society over the years, making it important to introduce deep reforms to improve governance and public service delivery.
The minister said districts situated at considerable distances from provincial headquarters were being governed from the capitals, saying that it creating obstacles in addressing local issues and timely service delivery.
Responding to a question, he said that strengthening local governance structures would help improve service delivery and enable citizens to access government services at their doorstep.
