Acting Speaker directs expediting construction work on Hazara Motorway

ISLAMABAD, Nov 8 (APP): Acting Speaker National Assembly Murtaza
Javed Abbasi Sunday directed National Highway Authority (NHA) to expedite
construction work on Hazara Motorway and resolve the problems of affected
people.He issued these directives while receiving briefing on Hazara
Motorway.General Manager Hazara Motorway Shahid Ehsan briefed the Acting
Speaker on progress of project.
GM told acting speaker that the project had been divided into three
sections for early completion, adding interchanges were being
constructed at various points of Motorway to benefit local population. The
project would be completed on time, he added.
Director Abbottabad University Abdul Ghafoor Baig told the acting
Speaker that a vast portion of the university’s land had been affected
with the construction of the Motorway.
Acting Speaker said the Abbottabad University was a quality
educational institution. He directed NHA to ensure that only small portion of land of the university should come under Hazara Motorway, said a press release.
He assured talking to federal government for getting maximum funds
to Abbottabad University.
Later, the owners, whose lands have been acquired for constructing
Hazara Motorway, complained that they are being paid less payment of
their lands as comparing to prevalent market prices.
Acting Speaker constituted a committee of notables of the area,
with the mandate to recommend suitable prices of the acquired lands for
Hazara Motorway within a week.
Speaker said the Motorway was most important project,
having potential of providing cheap travelling facilities to not only
the people of Hazara division but also to Azad Jammu and Kashmir and
Gilgit-Baltistan.
Hazara Motorway, he said, would create new employment opportunities,
enhance trade activities and surely usher a new era of progress and
prosperity.
