Acting President Gillani stresses maximum relief for floods affected people of GB
ISLAMABAD, Sep 03 (APP):Acting President, Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani on Thursday said that the situation arising from floods in Gilgit-Baltistan required continued attention and coordinated efforts and stressed that maximum relief must be ensured to the affected people.
He expressed these views while talking to Deputy Speaker Gilgit-Baltistan Assembly, Malik Kifayatur Rehman, who called on him at Aiwan-e-Sadr, along with former Forest Minister, Muhammad Imran Wakeel belonging to Tangir Valley in the Diamer and former Member Provincial Assembly (MPA) from Kohistan Abdul Sattar Khan, a Presidency’s news release said.
Matters relating to the overall political situation in Gilgit-Baltistan also came under discussion. Abdul Sattar Khan said that the people of Kohistan were grateful to Mr Gilani for providing a Degree College in Dasu during his tenure as Prime Minister of Pakistan.
In a separate meeting, Justice (Retd) Irfan Qadir, Consultant Legal Affairs, apprised Mr Gilani of the decisions rendered in representations filed under Section 14 of the Federal Ombudsmen Institutional Reforms Act, 2013, against the orders of the five Ombudsmen of Pakistan at the federal level.
A delegation of the Pakistan Association of Automotive Parts & Accessories Manufacturers (PAAPAM), led by Chairman Usman Aslam Malik, also met Mr Gilani and briefed him on matters related to the automobile industry in the country.
In another meeting, Dr Kaleem Zaidi and Resident Editor, Khabrain Multan, Syed Sajjad Bukhari also called on Mr Gilani. Matters relating to Multan and South Punjab came under discussion. They said that the people of South Punjab were grateful to Mr Gilani for taking a personal interest in the development and uplift of the area.
Dr Abdul Ghaffar Jhammat, belonging to Darya Khan, Bhakkar, also called on Mr Gilani and apprised him of matters relating to his area.
