MULTAN, Nov 21 (APP):Acting President Yusuf Raza Gilani has directed the divisional administration to immediately implement strict measures to improve the worsening smog situation in Multan division.
He said that all departments concerned must act promptly and in a coordinated manner to provide relief to citizens and control rising air pollution.
During a meeting with Commissioner Multan Division Aamir Kareem Khan, the Acting President received a detailed briefing on development projects, public welfare initiatives and overall administrative performance in the division. He stressed that environmental safety and public health must remain a top priority, especially amid growing concerns over smog and seasonal diseases.
The meeting also reviewed the healthcare situation, particularly the increasing number of dengue cases. The Acting President instructed authorities to further improve hospital facilities, enhance preventive measures and ensure timely treatment for patients. He appreciated the Multan district administration for its effective response during the recent floods, noting that the timely relief and rehabilitation efforts demonstrated strong coordination and commitment.
Commissioner Aamir Kareem Khan also highlighted the active role of Member National Assembly (MNA) Syed Ali Qasim Gilani, who remained consistently engaged in assisting affected communities during the crisis.
Matters pertaining to the ongoing construction and pending work at the historically significant Musa Pak Shrine were also discussed. The Acting President directed that all remaining tasks be completed without delay.
