Absence of bureaucrats, Speaker suspends House proceedings for short time

ISLAMABAD, Nov 11 (APP): Speaker National Assembly Sardar Ayaz Sadiq Wednesday expressed displeasure over the absence of the high officials of four important ministries during the question-hour and suspended the House proceedings for ten minutes.
The speaker summoned Secretaries of Ministries of Planning, Finance, Economic Affairs and Interior in his chamber to inquire from them why the high-officials of their respective ministries were not present in the gallery.
He said that clear instructions have already been passed that at least
a joint secretary should be present during the proceedings of the house.
He sarcastically said that the bureaucrats should inform the House
about their availability so that the house business could be run accordingly.”You tell us when we have to run this parliament, and when your officers will be present,” he said while pointing out to Minister for Defence Production Rana Tanvir, who also endorsed the Chair’s point of view.
Ayaz Sadiq said that the Chair wanted to make the proceedings of the
House meaningful so they (bureaucrats) should ensure their presence or they must inform about their availability.
Earlier, leader of the Opposition Syed Khursheed Shah while speaking on
a point of order said that the members were not taking the House seriously, so he would be pointing out the quorum in future.
Mehmood Khan Achakzai urged the speaker to ensure strict timetable, and
start the session at fixed time.
