Abiding by the Indus Waters Treaty only way forward to maintain regional peace: IRS president

ISLAMABAD, Jun 30 (APP): President Institute of Regional Studies (IRS) Ambassador Jauhar Saleem on Tuesday said that enduring peace could be best secured through respect for international law and conformement to international commitments.
Addressing at an international seminar titled ‘Indus Waters Treaty: An Instrument of Peace and Regional Stability’, the IRS president said nations could resolve their differences peacefully by fulfilling their commitment to international laws.
He said the lasting water security depended not only the quantity of available water but also on the certainty, transparency, predictability, and cooperation.
The IRS president stressed that the only way forward to ensure regional peace was to abide by the Indus Waters Treaty in letter and spirit.
