ISLAMABAD, Oct 27 (APP):Hurriyat leader Abdul Hameed Lone on Monday said that the people of Jammu and Kashmir are observing Black Day today on both sides of the Line of Control and across the world to mark what he described as the darkest chapter in Kashmir’s history.
In a video statement released on the occasion, Lone recalled that on October 27, 1947, India violated the principles of the partition plan and the wishes of the Kashmiri people by sending its troops into Jammu and Kashmir, thereby establishing an illegal occupation that continues to this day.
He said the day serves as a stark reminder of the grave hardships faced by the Kashmiri people, who have been denied their fundamental rights for over seven decades. “India has stripped the people of Jammu and Kashmir of all basic freedoms,” he stated.
Lone emphasized that the unresolved Kashmir dispute remains a question mark on the credibility of the United Nations, urging the international community to honor the commitments made to the Kashmiri people.
“This day reminds the world of the UN resolutions on Kashmir, which call for the right of self-determination,” he said. “We want to make it clear to both the international community and India that the people of Jammu and Kashmir will continue their struggle until the realization of their inalienable right to self-determination.”
