ISLAMABAD, Oct 11 (APP): Hundreds of Alm and Zuljanah
processions were held peacefully in towns and cities across the country to commemorate the supreme sacrifice of Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA) and his companions.

Zuljanah, Taziya and Alam processions were taken out in cities of Islamabad, Quetta, Peshawar, Lahore, Karachi, Hyderabad, Multan, Sialkot, Daska, Sambrial, Pasrur, Faisalabad, Rawalpindi, Taxila, Wah Cantt, Sargodha, Attock, Bahawalpur and other cities.

The mourning processions ended peacefully after passing
through their designated routes.

Religious scholars and clerics gave sermons on the events
leading to Youm e Ashur, the day of the martyrdom of Hazrat Imam Hussain (AS) and his 72 companions near the river Euphrates in Karbala, Iraq.

Elaborate security arrangements were made on the occasion and the personnel of the law enforcement agencies provided security to the mourners.

In Karachi, the main mourning procession of the 9th of
Muharram ended peacefully at the Imambargah Hussainian Iranian in Kharadar in the evening.

The procession had commenced from the Nishter Park earlier in the day following a Majlis that was addressed by Allama Talib Jauhri.

In Multan, as many as 82 mourning processions were
taken out in connection with 9th Muharram and these concluded peacefully.

Strict security arrangements were made by the district
administration to avert any untoward incident.

The historic Muharram procession was taken out from
Imambargah Mumtazabad.

While, the historic Ustadwala and Shagirdwala tazias
were also held Inside Pak Gate and Khooni Burj. The Ustadwala tazia is 200 years old while Shagirdwala goes 70 years back.

Similarly, other historic tazias of Multan including Pir
Laal Bukhsh, Kiri Patolian, Allah Bukhshwala and others were
also held.

In Hyderabad, the first mourning procession of 9th Muharram  terminated in a peaceful manner in Latifabad Unit 5 amid strict security measures.

The mourning procession was brought out from the residence of Muhsin Jafferi in Latifabad and after marching through traditional routes terminated at the starting point. Heavy contingent of Rangers and police accompanied the procession.

In Islamabad, about 17 religious processions were taken out in different parts in memory of sacrifice of Hazrat Imam Hussain (AS).

The main procession started from Markazi Imambargah sector G 6/2 and concluded at the same place after passing through its traditional route.

Thousands of mourners and devotees participated in the
processions in memory of the supreme sacrifice made by Imam Hussain (AS) and his family for Islam.

In Taxila, the processions and majalis were also held amid
tight security. A procession was taken out from Model Town which concluded at Qasar e Fatmia.

The main procession of the day was taken out from Mohalla
Makran which after marching on traditional routes concluded at Qasar e Shabbir, Mohallah Dhakki.

Another procession commenced from Haideri Imambargah
HMC road and later merged with the main procession aimed at strict security measures. Pillion riding was banned by the administration for the day.

The administration secured the processions with walk through gates, metal detectors and monitored them with cameras.
