93,255 interns to get training under PM Youth Programme

ISLAMABAD, Dec 8 (APP): A total of 93,255 interns will get training next year under Prime Minister’s Youth Training Scheme.
The allocation of interns will be made in accordance with the NFC award and FPSC’s recruitment criteria for provincial and regional quotas.Prime Minister’s Youth Programme is a revolutionary programme for the socio-economic development of youth, in a bid to combat soaring unemployment in the country.
It has a broad canvas of schemes aimed at enabling youth and poor segments of population to get good employment, opportunities, secure economic empowerment, acquire skills needed for gainful employment, have access to higher education and IT tools, access to on-the-job training and internship for young graduates to improve the probability of getting a productive job.
According to official figures, per year allocation of interns for Azad
Jammu and Kashmir is 1000, Balochistan 3000, Northern Areas/FATA 2000, Islamabad 3750, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa 5750, Punjab 25000 and Sindh 9500.
An amount of Rs 6.8 billion has been disbursed among 65,000 beneficiaries so far under the Prime Minister Youth Programme.
Under the Interest Free Loan Scheme, Rs 2 billion has been disbursed among 91,000 beneficiaries since launching of the Prime Minister Youth Programme.
In Phase first of Youth Skill Development Programme, about 25,000 youth were imparted training in 336 institutes across the country.
Similarly in first phase, 100,000 laptops have been distributed among
talented students and 4000,00 more laptops will be given to students in phase second (2015-18).
Likewise, 100,000 students of Masters, Mphil and PhD degrees are
beneficiaries of Prime Minister’s Fee Reimbursement Scheme for Less Developed Areas.
