ISLAMABAD, Jan 19 (APP):The Senate on Monday passed nine private member bills including the Prevention of Smuggling of Migrants (Amendment) Bill, 2024, the Pakistan Penal Code (Amendment) Bill, 2025, the Criminal Laws (Amendment) Bill, 2024, the Criminal Laws (Amendment) Bill, 2024, the Mental Health (Amendment) Bill, 2025, the Pakistan Nursing Council (Amendment) Bill, 2024, the Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (Amendment) Bill, 2024, the Federal Supervision of Curricula, Text-books and Maintenance of Standards of the Education (Amendment) Bill, 2024, the Civil Servants (Amendment) Bill, 2024 and the Provincial Motor Vehicles (Amendment) Bill, 2025.
The bills were moved by Samina Mumtaz Zehri, Shahdat Awan, Qurat ul Ain Marri, Zamir Hussain and Sarmad Ali in the Senate.
All the bills were passed unanimously except the Pakistan Penal Code (Amendment) Bill, 2025], (Amendment of sections 323, 330 and 331 of PPC).
The House passed the bills through clause by clause readings.
Meanwhile, the Islamabad Capital Territory Prohibition of Corporal Punishment Bill, 2021 was withdrawn from the Senate.
Senator Saadia Abbasi moved a motion to withdraw the Islamabad Capital Territory Prohibition of Corporal Punishment Bill, 2021 in the Senate which was adopted by the House.
