ISLAMABAD, Jun 24 (APP):The Islamabad district administration has constituted an 8-member inquiry committee to investigate the recent fire incident at H-9 Bazaar.
According to an official notification issued here on Wednesday, the committee has been tasked with reviewing the response of rescue services, identifying the cause of the fire, assessing losses, and proposing measures for the safe operation of the market. The committee has been directed to submit its report within 3 days.
The notification, issued by the Office of the District Magistrate, Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT), names the Additional Deputy Commissioner (General), ICT, as the convener of the committee.
Other members include the Chief Officer of the Metropolitan Corporation Islamabad, the Superintendent of Police (Soan), Islamabad, the Director of District Emergency Officer Rawalpindi, the Director (E&DM) CDA, the Assistant Commissioner (I-Area), ICT, and the Assistant Director of Civil Defence, ICT. The committee may also include any co-opted member if required.
According to the terms of reference (TORs), the committee will assess the response time of rescue and emergency services and determine the cause of the fire and factors that contributed to its spread.
It will also evaluate the extent of damage caused by the incident and also recommend ways to ensure the functioning and operation of the unaffected and safe sections of the market.
The Deputy Inspector General of Police (Operations), Islamabad, has been requested to maintain sufficient police deployment at H-9 Sunday Bazaar until the inquiry process is completed.
Meanwhile, the Deputy Commissioner Rawalpindi has been asked to direct emergency officials to assist the committee, while the Municipal Corporation Islamabad has been instructed to provide staff at the incident site for the next 48 hours.
