7 special education centres on cards

LAHORE, Oct 27 (APP): The Punjab government has decided
to set- up seven special education centres in newly created
tehsils at a cost of Rs 52.500 million.
Apart from, he said, Rs 27.721 million had been set
aside for the establishment of computer laboratories.
It was stated by provincial Minister for Special
Education, Asif Saeed Manhais while talking to a delegation
in his office on Tuesday.
The Minister said, the government was attaching high
significance to education to special children and in this
regard hefty allocation was made in the provincial budget.
He said, special education department had increased enrolment
of special children in the institutions of special education
and providing stipend, free uniform, text and Braille books,
scholarships, boarding and lodging facility, teaching aids
to special students. As a result of these initiatives, he
said, enrolment in special education institutions has increased
from 17176 to 25764 which is 84 percent.
