53 children perish, 86 injured in KP earthquake: PDMA

PESHAWAR Oct 30 (APP): The jolts of October 26 earthquake even did not spare the innocent children by claims lives of 53 and injuring 86 in the most affected districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
The most casualties of children occurred in the worst hit Shangla district where 23 children expired due to roofs and houses collapsed incidents followed by 11 in Dir Upper, 10 in Torghar, three in Dir Lower, two in Lower Kohistan and one each in Bunner, Charsadda, Nowshera, Mansehra and Batagram districts. Whereas, 66 children sustained wounds in Swat, 11 in Swabi, eight in Nowshera and one in Charsadda.
Likewise, 48 female lost battle for lives and 163 injured in different worst hit districts of the province. Out of total 48 deaths, 21 died in Shangla, nine in Dir Lower, two in Dir Upper, six in Torghar, seven in Buner, one each in Charsadda, Hangu and Manshera districts.
Whereas, 56 women sustained injuries in Dir Lower, nine in Torghar, 57 in Buner, 19 in Charsadda, three in Nowshera, eight in Swabi, four in Manshera and seven in Kohat.
The PDMA Spokesman said that death toll of the earthquake jumped to 225, 1802 injured and 15692 houses and 155 schools damage in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa here on Friday.
The Govt has expedited relief activities in the quake hit areas and Federal and Provincial Governments was working together for assistance of the victims, he said.
The Spokesman said Provincial Government has released Rs 3 billion for all affected districts of KP. The PDMA has released Rs20million to District Buner and Rs 524million to District Swat for onward distribution amongst the affectees.
