496 bikes transferred in 24 hours as free transfer offer linked to petrol subsidy

ISLAMABAD, Apr 08 (APP):The government has made it mandatory for motorcycle owners to register their bikes in their own name to receive the petrol subsidy, while 496 bikes were transferred free of cost in the last 24 hours under a special offer.
The Excise Department has kept its office open round the clock to help citizens complete the process.
The petrol subsidy plan for motorcycle owners requires that each bike must be registered in the name of the person applying for the subsidy. Officials said this step is necessary to ensure that the benefit reaches the actual user.
To support this requirement, the Islamabad Excise Department has started a free bike transfer service.
According to the Director General Excise, a total of 496 motorcycles were transferred without any fee during the past 24 hours. The initiative aims to remove financial and procedural barriers for citizens who need to update ownership records.
The department has also announced that its office will remain open 24 hours a day to facilitate people. This step allows citizens to visit at any time with the required documents and complete the transfer process without delay.
DG Excise Irfan Memon urged citizens to take full advantage of the free transfer offer, stating that it is directly linked to eligibility for the petrol subsidy. He said that those who fail to transfer ownership in their name may not be able to receive the subsidy.
Citizens have been advised to bring necessary documents, including identification and vehicle papers, when visiting the excise office. Officials added that staff members are available to assist applicants and ensure quick processing of requests.
The government expects that the free transfer facility will help increase compliance with registration rules and make it easier for eligible individuals to benefit from the petrol subsidy program.
