ISLAMABAD, Jan 24 (APP): Minister of State for Capital Administration and Development Division Tariq Fazal Chudhary Wednesday told the National Assembly that about 40 to 50 patients are undergoing the process of dialysis daily at PIMS.
Replying during question hour in the House, the minister said that at present there are 12 dialysis machines in PIMS out of which 11 machines are functioning while only two Nephrologists are working in the hospital.
Tariq Fazal said that 242 beds are available in children wards while Children Emergency had 12 beds.
To a question, the minister said that the government is considering for expansion of the Federal General Hospital (FGH) at Chak Shahzad which is a regular hospital and providing outdoor, indoor emergency services.
Tariq Fazal said the FGH is also providing laboratory and radiological diagnostic facilities, adding that everything is provided free of charge in the hospital.
To another question, he said the facility of Liver Transplant started in Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences on the direction of the Prime Minister in 2010.
He said that 95 posts of different cadres were sanctioned at the time of establishment of centre for liver disease and liver transplant in PIMS, out of these posts, 57 posts are filled and 38 posts are still vacant.
However, the minister said that position pertaining to the highly skilled professional like consultant anesthetist liver transplant surgery, consultant radiologist (Interventional), consultant heptobilliary & liver transplant surgeon and consultant hepatologist could not be filled.
The minister said PM Grievance Cell has been established to provide free of cost liver transplant to the patients.
