ISLAMABAD, Nov 04 (APP):The Islamabad district administration has accelerated its anti-dengue operations across the capital, carrying out large-scale surveillance, fogging, and preventive measures in both urban and rural areas.
According to the latest dengue surveillance report, 27 new cases were recorded in the past 24 hours, while 23,819 sites were inspected during the ongoing campaign.
Of the newly reported cases, 12 patients were from rural zones and 15 from urban sectors, the report said. A total of 42 patients are currently under treatment at different hospitals in the federal capital.
To curb mosquito breeding, field teams conducted fogging operations at 618 locations across multiple sectors and union councils. During surveillance, larvae were found at 150 sites, while one location was declared negative after testing.
As part of preventive actions, the district teams also performed anti-dengue spraying at 876 homes and public places, focusing on high-risk areas identified through the surveillance data.
The administration stated that strict measures are being taken against those violating dengue standard operating procedures (SOPs). Several premises were sealed and multiple individuals were taken into custody for negligence contributing to mosquito breeding.
Officials said that all available resources are being utilized to contain the virus spread. “Operations are being carried out round-the-clock in sensitive localities, with special monitoring teams deployed to oversee the implementation of dengue control measures,” a district administration spokesperson said.
The anti-dengue campaign, launched in coordination with the Health Department, the Metropolitan Corporation Islamabad, and union councils, involves door-to-door inspections, elimination of stagnant water, and awareness drives for residents. Teams are using larvicides and thermal fogging machines to eliminate breeding sites in residential, commercial, and open areas.
In addition to the physical operations, awareness messages are being delivered to citizens, urging them to keep their surroundings clean and free from water accumulation. “Public cooperation is essential to completely eradicate dengue,” officials emphasized.
The administration also warned that action would continue against institutions and property owners found violating anti-dengue guidelines, including schools, construction sites, and junkyards. The report highlighted that compliance with SOPs, particularly the removal of standing water and proper waste disposal, is critical to prevent further spread.
According to the district health office, the dengue response teams are operating under an integrated surveillance plan that divides Islamabad into sectors and risk zones. Areas with higher larvae detection rates are marked for repeat inspections and continuous monitoring.
Fogging and spraying activities will continue daily, with priority given to neighborhoods reporting new cases or larvae presence. Health officials confirmed that hospitals have been directed to remain on high alert, ensuring timely diagnosis, isolation, and treatment for dengue patients.
The district administration reiterated that it is working closely with local communities to strengthen the early warning and response system. Citizens have been encouraged to report stagnant water or mosquito breeding spots through helpline numbers and social media channels.
Officials expressed confidence that, with community participation and sustained surveillance, the city would soon be able to reduce the number of dengue cases significantly. “The anti-dengue campaign will continue until complete elimination of breeding sources,” the spokesperson said, adding that surveillance in high-risk areas would remain active 24 hours a day.
