230,650 vehicles e-tagged as 1,357 registered in one day across Islamabad

ISLAMABAD, Feb 21 (APP): Islamabad has completed e-tag installation on 230,650 vehicles, with 1,357 registrations recorded in the last 24 hours, as e-tag services continue during Ramazan and checks tighten against unregistered vehicles, officials said.
The process of e-tag registration for vehicles is continuing across the federal capital, according to officials from Excise and Taxation Department, Islamabad. Authorities said the system is being expanded to ensure proper vehicle identification and monitoring across the city.
Officials confirmed that e-tags have now been installed on a total of 230,650 vehicles. During the last 24 hours alone, 1,357 vehicles were issued e-tags at designated centers. The figures reflect steady public participation in the registration drive, which remains active during Ramadan.
All e-tag registration centers are continuing to operate during Ramazan, allowing vehicle owners to complete the process without disruption. Officials said staff have been directed to maintain services so that citizens can register their vehicles with ease.
During enforcement operations, excise teams are taking action against vehicles found without e-tags. Such vehicles are being taken into custody and shifted to police stations as part of the ongoing drive. The action is aimed at ensuring compliance with the registration requirement and discouraging movement of unregistered vehicles within the city.
Authorities have also installed modern readers on major roads and at checkpoints across Islamabad. These readers are being used for continuous scanning of e-tags to identify vehicles that are not registered under the system. Officials said this monitoring helps track vehicle movement and supports enforcement measures.
The Director General of Excise said movement of vehicles without e-tags is being restricted in the city. He added that the department is using both field operations and technology-based checks to ensure that vehicles comply with the rules.
The official further stated that citizens can easily get e-tags installed from their nearest registration centers. He encouraged vehicle owners to complete the process to avoid inconvenience during road checks and enforcement actions.
Authorities said the e-tag system is part of broader efforts to improve vehicle record management and road monitoring in Islamabad. The department plans to continue registration, enforcement, and scanning operations in the coming days.
Officials reiterated that vehicle owners should cooperate with excise teams and complete e-tag registration at the earliest. They said further action may be taken against vehicles found operating without e-tags as enforcement continues across the federal capital.
