22,000 workers, 88,000 cleaning units keep holy sites clean during Hajj rush

ISLAMABAD, May 28 (APP):Saudi authorities deployed more than 22,000 workers and over 88,000 cleaning units across the holy sites during Hajj 1447 AH as part of one of the largest sanitation operations conducted during the pilgrimage season.
According to Saudi Press Agency (SPA), the Holy Makkah Municipality removed more than 16,000 tons of waste during Hajj operations while maintaining round-the-clock environmental sanitation services for millions of pilgrims.
The extensive clean-up campaign relied on 123 waste compactors, around 45,000 waste containers, 1,235 compacting bins and more than 3,000 field vehicles and machines operating across Mina, Arafat and other holy sites.
SPA told APP that environmental sanitation operations covered more than 46,000 locations through spraying, sterilization and preventive treatment campaigns in high-density pilgrim areas.
Authorities said rapid rehabilitation and cleaning work was also carried out in Mina immediately after pilgrims departed for Arafat to ensure the holy site remained fully prepared for their return after Hajj rituals.
Saudi authorities continue implementing large-scale municipal and environmental operations to maintain cleanliness, public health and uninterrupted services during Hajj 1447 AH.
