ISLAMABAD, Jun 2 (APP):The 21st death anniversary of renowned Pakistani playback singer Mujeeb Alam was observed on Monday.
He was born on September 2,1948, in Kanpur, India. He began his musical journey at the age of 14 with Radio Pakistan in Lahore.
His breakthrough came with the 1967 film Chakori, where his song “Woh Mere Saamne Tasveer Bane Baithe Hain” became a massive hit.
Throughout his career, he recorded over 12,000 songs in multiple languages, including Urdu, Punjabi, Bangla, and Pashto.
His emotive voice and unique style made him a favorite among filmgoers, with hits like “Main Tera Shehar Chhor Jaon Ga” and “Aye Maan Teri Soorat Kay Aagay” from the film Qulli further cementing his legacy.
He earned the Nigar Award for Best Male Playback Singer.
He passed away on June 2, 2004, in Karachi at the age of 55 due to heart failure.
