ISLAMABAD, Jun 18 (APP): Planning Minister Ahsan Iqbal paid a surprise visit at the 200-bed emergency block at PIMS on Wednesday which is nearing completion and is soon to be inaugurated.
Calling it a game changer in the field of emergency care for the capital’s burgeoning population, Minister Ahsan Iqbal stated that the new emergency tower will serve 10,000 patients daily, said a press release.
The new tower will provide cutting edge emergency facilities which will be a federal milestone in healthcare.
He executed a detailed visit of all departments constructed in the facility, including advanced triage systems, trauma care units, surgical theaters, diagnostic services and intensive care capacities.
The Project In-Charge stated that treatment of all kinds of emergencies will be provided at one place. The tower will make it possible to do a triage of patient (or victims of a disaster) based on illness/injury, severity, prognosis and resource availability.
During the visit, the Planning Minister stressed that the government remains fully committed to strengthening public health infrastructure. “This facility reflects our sustained investment in critical care services.” Referring to PIMS as the leading tertiary care institution in the federal capital, Ahsan Iqbal expressed hope staring that this expansion will help address rising patient volumes and reduce pressure on existing emergency rooms.
The minister further emphasized that health sector development continues to receive top priority at the federal level, with particular focus on quality, accessibility, and readiness.
Reflecting on his sudden visit, he affirmed, “The purpose of my visit today is to personally review project progress and ensure that timely actions are being taken at all levels so that the facility can be inaugurated timely.β
