ISLAMABAD, Jul 31 (APP):The 19th meeting of the Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF) was held at the IATF Secretariat, ANF Headquarters, Rawalpindi.
IATF is a conglomerate of 32 federal and provincial Law Enforcement Agencies (LEAs) and Departments, established not only as a coordination mechanism but the embodiment of national resolve against the menace of drugs; where strategies converge, intelligence is pooled, and the operations are aligned for the maximum impact.
The meeting was presided over by the Chairman IATF (DG ANF), Major General, Abdul Moeed Hilal-e-Imtiaz (Military) and attended by the DG Pakistan Coast Guards Major General Jawad Riaz, DG Pakistan Maritime Security Agency (PMSA) Rear Admiral Shahzad Iqbal SI(M), Additional Inspector General of Police KP, Muhammad Ali Babakhel and senior representatives from other federal and provincial departments.
Major General Abdul Moeed, in his opening remarks, underscored the value of synergistic and synchronous employment of IATF members in their fight against drugs.
The Secretary IATF Brigadier, Syed Imran Ali, apprised the forum with the narco-threat dynamics, response paradigm, and the challenges being confronted in combating drug crimes.
The presentation by Director Enforcement ANF was followed by meaningful discussions on this year’s agenda points for the meeting including deliberation on evolving narcotics and precursors trends with focus on increasing use of synthetic drugs particularly Methamphetamine (Ice), Counter narcotics campaign centered around education institutes (EIs) for 2025-26, Coordination and synchronization for poppy eradication campaign (PEC)-2025-26, Inter-agency information sharing, strategic coordination, joint operations and training among relevant LEAs/departments, Refinement of joint operational framework and signing of MoUs to bolster institutional coordination among the members.
In his closing remarks, the Chairman IATF (DG ANF), Major General Abdul Moeed, thanked all the participants for their participation and valuable contributions.
The Chairman IATF emphasized that the success of the IATF forum lies not only in the quality of the dialogue among the members but in the effective implementation of mutually agreed actions.
He urged all the stakeholders to stay engaged beyond this meeting and to continue fostering a culture of real-time collaboration.
