A 16-member delegation of the 47th Mid-Career Management Course of the National Institute of Public Administration (NIPA), Islamabad, visited Parliament House on Friday to gain firsthand insight into the Senate’s constitutional, legislative and parliamentary oversight functions.
16-member NIPA delegation gets firsthand insight into Senate’s legislative, oversight role

ISLAMABAD, Aug 28 (APP):A 16-member delegation of the 47th Mid-Career Management Course of the National Institute of Public Administration (NIPA), Islamabad, visited Parliament House on Friday to gain firsthand insight into the Senate’s constitutional, legislative and parliamentary oversight functions.
Secretary Senate Syed Hasnain Haider briefed the participants on Pakistan’s parliamentary system, the constitutional role of the Senate, legislative process, parliamentary oversight and the impartial and professional role of the Senate Secretariat.
Director General (Research), Senate Secretariat, Iffat Mustafa briefed the delegation on the composition and proceedings of the Upper House, functioning of standing committees, stages of legislation and the Senate’s oversight powers.
The delegation also witnessed proceedings of the Senate and raised various questions relating to parliamentary affairs, which were answered in detail by the officials concerned.
Later, the participants visited the Senate Museum, where they were briefed on Pakistan’s parliamentary system, legislative process and the constitutional role of the Senate.
They also watched a documentary highlighting the history of the Upper House and showed keen interest in statues of prominent national personalities and historical photographs displayed at the museum.
The delegation also visited Gali-e-Dastoor, where the participants were apprised of the making of the Constitution of Pakistan and important milestones in the country’s constitutional history.
The participants termed the visit and briefings informative and useful and thanked the Senate Secretariat officials for facilitating the programme.
At the conclusion of the visit, the delegation expressed its appreciation to the Senate Secretariat officials and presented a commemorative souvenir.
