ISLAMABAD, Oct 16 (APP):The Islamabad High Court was informed on Thursday through a police report that 1,314 drug cases were registered and 1408 accused were arrested in the federal capital so far during current year.
The court was told that 22 cases have been registered in the vicinity of educational institutions and 22 drug peddlers have been arrested. Three kilos of heroin, three kilogram of ice and 18kg hashish were seized from the vicinity of educational institutions.
The court, while seeking a report on the next hearing, remarked that if drugs reach schools, colleges and universities, the administration is responsible. In case of a complaint, action against the principal and owner should be included in the SOP, it said.
Justice Raja Inaam Ameen Minhas heard a case against alleged use of drugs at educational institutions of the federal capital. A detailed report of 1,314 cases registered by the federal police this year was presented to the court.
Federal Police’s DSP Legal Sajid Cheema, while presenting the report to the court, said that the police had launched the “No More Drugs” campaign. So far this year, 1,314 cases have been registered and 1,408 accused have been arrested. It said that 22 cases have been registered in the vicinity of educational institutions and 22 drug peddlers have been arrested. The lawyer of Private Educational Institutions Regularity Authority (PEIRA) told the court that awareness seminars have been held in educational institutions and committees have been formed.
Justice Raja Inaam Ameen Minhas inquired how schools are forming committees. This is a very dangerous task. The committee’s performance report will have to be submitted, he said.
The court asked that how is the monitoring being done? What is the mechanism within educational institutions? The court directed that permission should be sought from the principal if any function is held in educational institutions or if anything is to be brought inside.
The petitioner’s lawyer, Kashif Malik Advocate, requested that this is a two-page police report. If any institution or staff is involved, it should be blacklisted and arrested immediately. On which the court directed that if anyone is involved, action will be taken against the principal, the court said that fine is not the solution to the problem, the regulator has to see that drug smuggling is very dangerous and has many methods, whoever is caught should be ask that to which school he used too supply.
Kashif Malik Advocate said that when dengue spread in Rawalpindi, cases were registered against the school administration.
The court directed that the para to put it in the SOP that if there was a complaint, action would be taken against the school principal and owner, while the police were directed to go to all the educational institutions where drug cases have been registered and report it.
The court sought a detailed report at the next hearing and said that a detailed order will be written regarding this case. The court adjourned the hearing of the case.
