BEIJING, Dec 17 (APP):Federal Minister for Planning, Development and Reform Makhdoom Khusro Bakhtiar along with a high-level delegation will arrive here on Tuesday to attend the meeting of 8th Joint Coordination Committee (JCC) on China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) scheduled to be held on December 20.
Chief Ministers, Sindh Murad Ali Shah, Gilgit-Baltistan Hafiz Hafeez-ur-Rahman and senior officials of the concerned ministries and departments will also participate in the JCC, a senior official told APP here on Monday.
During the JCC, the officials from Pakistan and China will discuss inter-alia; up-gradation of the main railway line from Peshawar to Karachi, the extension of Thakot-Raikot section of Karakorum Highway (KKH) and construction of a new international airport at Gwadar.
The two sides will discuss the establishment of a hospital and a technical education school and a power plant in Gwadar.
The two sides will discuss setting up of Special Economic Zones (SEZs) and cooperation to speed up the industrialization process in the country.
The Cabinet Committee on the CPEC has already accorded approval to signing a framework agreement for industrial cooperation, paving the course for setting up special economic zones.
The officials will also discuss ways and means to enhance cooperation on energy and the oil and gas sector during the JCC.
A joint working group of the two countries on socio-economic development which has been constituted during the recent visit of Prime Minister Imran Khan to China, will discuss different aspects of poverty alleviation, socio-economic development and cooperation in the agriculture sector.
A day before the JCC meeting, the working groups of the two countries will hold a meeting to give a final touch to the recommendations.
According to the official, the working group on energy has already finalized its recommendations to present in the JCC meeting.
The working group of the two countries on industrial cooperation, transport and Gwadar have also developed consensus.
Following the conclusion of the JCC, the two sides will sign minutes of the meetings of JCC and various working groups.
