PESHAWAR, Aug 09 (APP): Young people are urged to broaden their horizons, strengthen social connections and translate ideas into practical initiatives at the ninth annual Qalb Conference, held over two days on August 8 and 9 at Sirin Resort, Naran.
The conference was organised by District Youth Office Mansehra, in collaboration with the Qalb Welfare Foundation, under the Directorate of Youth Affairs, Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
Held under the theme “Explore, Connect, Change”, the two-day conference brought together young people, social workers, volunteers and tourism advocates from different parts of the country to discuss leadership, community engagement, volunteerism and the role of youth in social development.
Adviser to the Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa for Sports and Youth Affairs, Taj Muhammad Khan Tarand was the chief guest.
Chairman District Development Advisory Committee (D-DAC) Mansehra Ikramullah Ghazi and other guests also attended the gathering.
Tarand said young people represented an important part of the province’s social capital and should be provided with opportunities to develop their skills, exchange ideas and take part in constructive activities.
He stressed the need for greater youth participation in community initiatives, saying meaningful engagement could help young people turn their abilities and ideas into practical contributions to society.
Director Youth Affairs Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Abbas Khan Afridi said the Directorate of Youth Affairs was working to create platforms where young people could develop leadership skills, interact with people from diverse backgrounds and engage with issues affecting their communities.
He said youth development should go beyond occasional events and provide sustained opportunities for learning, collaboration and practical engagement.
Held in the scenic surroundings of Naran, the conference featured activities and interactions focused on learning, teamwork, leadership and personal development. Participants also shared experiences related to social work, voluntary blood donation and tourism promotion.
The participation of people from different parts of Pakistan gave the conference a wider perspective, with discussions highlighting the potential of young people to contribute to community welfare and promote a more constructive image of the country.
The organisers said the conference sought to encourage participants to move beyond discussion and take practical steps towards positive change.
The two-day gathering concluded on Sunday with a renewed emphasis on its theme, “Explore, Connect, Change”, calling on young people to discover new opportunities, build stronger networks and play a meaningful role in shaping Pakistan’s future.
