WSSC intensifies dewatering operations after heavy rain in DIKhan
Dera Ismail Khan , Sep 25 (APP):Heavy rain that lashed Dera Ismail Khan in the early hours of Friday prompted Water and Sanitation Services Company (WSSC) Dera Ismail Khan to intensify drainage and clearance operations across the city.
Following the rainfall, WSSC field teams remained active at various locations to remove accumulated rainwater and ensure smooth drainage. Water Supply staff also carried out dewatering using motor pumps.
The sanitation and water supply teams were deployed in the field to respond to water accumulation and other rain-related issues, while clearance activities were also accelerated to facilitate the movement of residents and prevent disruption to routine civic life.
WSSC officials said the teams were working on a priority basis at locations where rainwater had accumulated, adding that dewatering operations would continue until the situation was brought under control.
They said the company had mobilized its field staff and equipment to deal with the effects of the heavy early-morning rainfall and improve drainage conditions in the city.
The officials also urged citizens and shopkeepers to cooperate with the field teams and avoid throwing plastic bags, wrappers and other waste into drains and watercourses, warning that even small plastic bags could obstruct drainage and cause water to accumulate on roads and in public places.
“Effective drainage after rainfall requires cooperation from citizens along with the efforts of the field teams,” the officials said, adding that keeping drains free of solid waste could significantly improve the flow of rainwater.
They said WSSC would continue its rain-response and clearance activities and remain engaged in removing accumulated water from affected points.
The company appealed to citizens to keep their surroundings clean, dispose of waste at designated points and avoid dumping garbage into drains to help ensure timely drainage during and after rainfall.
