PESHAWAR, Jul 20 (APP): Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Faisal Karim Kundi has proposed the establishment of regional offices of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Public Service Commission (KPPSC) in Dera Ismail Khan, Malakand and Abbottabad to improve access to the commission’s services for candidates across the province.
In a letter addressed to Chief Minister Muhammad Sohail Afridi, the governor highlighted the difficulties faced by candidates from the southern, Malakand and Hazara regions in travelling to the KPPSC headquarters in Peshawar for tests and interviews.
He said the long journeys impose a significant financial burden on candidates due to travel and accommodation expenses, while female applicants and residents of remote areas face additional hardships, affecting equitable access to competitive examinations and public sector employment opportunities.
The governor proposed establishing regional offices in Dera Ismail Khan, Malakand and Abbottabad to serve the southern, Malakand and Hazara regions, respectively.
He suggested that the initiative could be implemented in phases by utilizing existing government infrastructure with minimal financial implications.
He said the proposed offices would enhance accessibility, promote inclusivity and ensure broader regional representation in provincial services.
He also noted that similar decentralized arrangements adopted in Punjab and Sindh have significantly improved service delivery and facilitated candidates.
The governor requested the chief minister to grant approval in principle for the proposal and direct the relevant authorities to examine its feasibility and submit a formal summary for consideration.
