The University of Malakand on Tuesday hosted the opening ceremony of the 5th Digital Pakistan Cybersecurity Hackathon 2026, bringing together students, cybersecurity professionals, ethical hackers and technology enthusiasts to showcase their skills and address real-world security challenges.

MALAKAND, Sep 15 (APP):The University of Malakand on Tuesday hosted the opening ceremony of the 5th Digital Pakistan Cybersecurity Hackathon 2026, bringing together students, cybersecurity professionals, ethical hackers and technology enthusiasts to showcase their skills and address real-world security challenges.
The IEEE Student Branch and the Departments of Software Engineering and Cybersecurity of the University of Malakand organized the event in collaboration with Ignite-National Technology Fund, Ministry of IT and Telecom (MOITT), at the university’s Convocation Hall.
Vice Chancellor UoM Prof Dr Mir Azam Khan attended the ceremony as chief guest, while Mr Mansoor Gillani of Ignite-National Technology Fund, MOITT, and trainers from Trillium Information Security, including Muhammad Zubair, Rehan Ali Nasir, Muhammad Abdullah and Muhammad Hasnain, attended as guests of honour.
Faculty members from the Faculty of Computing Sciences and Engineering welcomed the guests and participating students.
The faculty members included Prof Dr Jamil Ahmad, Dr Muhammad Faisal, Dr Nasir Rashid, Dr Khalil, Dr Akhtar Badshah, Dr Muhammad Zahid Khan, Engr Shaukat and Zeeshan Danish.
The hackathon provided participants with an opportunity to demonstrate their cybersecurity skills, work on practical security challenges and interact with industry experts and trainers.
The event also aimed to promote innovative digital skills and contribute to strengthening Pakistan’s digital security.
Prof Dr Mir Azam Khan appreciated the organizers and guests for providing students with exposure to emerging trends in cybersecurity and opportunities to develop their digital and technical skills.
