PESHAWAR, Jun 17 (APP):Dr Murad Ali, Associate Professor and Chairman Department of Political Science at University of Malakand, has been awarded with the prestigious Taiwan Fellowship by the Government of Taiwan, becoming the fourth Pakistani scholar to receive the distinction and the first in the last five years.
The Taiwan Fellowship is a highly competitive international research programme sponsored by Taiwan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The fellowship supports distinguished foreign scholars and researchers undertaking advanced studies on Taiwan, the Asia-Pacific region, cross-strait relations and related academic fields, with around 100 scholars selected annually from more than 90 countries.
Dr Murad Ali, author of two internationally recognised books, received the fellowship in recognition of his academic and professional contributions to Sinology and his extensive research on various aspects of China’s Belt and Road Initiative and Sino-Pakistan relations.
Under the fellowship, Dr Ali will carry out research in collaboration with Professor Dr Chang-Ling Huang, Director of the Global Asia Research Centre (GARC) and Professor at the Department of Political Science at National Taiwan University.
Vice Chancellor of the University of Malakand, Professor Dr Mir Azam Khan, congratulated Dr Murad Ali on the achievement and said the university takes pride in his success.
He expressed hope that the opportunity would strengthen academic engagement with leading institutions in Taiwan and contribute to greater academic understanding and people-to-people links between Pakistan and Taiwan. He also said the achievement would encourage more Pakistani researchers to pursue international academic collaboration and research opportunities.
