Two terrorists, including suicide bomber, killed in Lakki encounter

PESHAWAR, Nov 04 (APP):The district police on Wednesday killed two suspected terrorists, including a suicide bomber, during an exchange of fire in Lakki Marwat, foiling a major terrorist attack.
According to police, a suspicious car with tinted windows was spotted at Gandi Chowk. A police team rushed to the spot, but the suspects opened fire on seeing the personnel and attempted to flee.
Police retaliated, killing two occupants, including a suspected suicide bomber, while the third injured suspect managed to escape.
Police recovered weapons, ammunition, a banned Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) flag, women’s burqas and other suspicious items from the vehicle.
The recovery raised suspicions that the terrorists were planning a major sabotage activity. However, police were investigating their intended target and possible plans.
Heavy contingents of police and the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) reached the site following the encounter.
A search operation was underway to arrest the escaped suspect, while authorities had taken custody of the bodies and started the identification process.
Inspector General of Police Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Zulfiqar Hameed praised the Lakki Marwat police for their timely action and commended the personnel for risking their lives to protect the public.
He said police would continue their efforts until the last terrorist was eliminated.
