Two policmen martyred in Tank blast; Police

Two policemen including an Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI), were martyred and two others sustained injures when an improvised explosive device (IED) targeted an armored police vehicle on the Jandola-Wana Road in the jurisdiction of Shaheed Mureed Akbar Police Station in Tank district.

PESHAWAR, Jul 13 (APP): Two policemen including an Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI), were martyred and two others sustained injures when an improvised explosive device (IED) targeted an armored police vehicle on the Jandola-Wana Road in the jurisdiction of Shaheed Mureed Akbar Police Station in Tank district.
According to police, the blast occurred near Garah Hayat, where an IED detonated as the police armored personnel carrier (APC) was on a routine patrol. Initial assessments suggest the explosion may have been caused by a remote-controlled IED.
Following the attack, police across the district were placed on high alert, and a search operation was launched to trace those responsible.
Police identified the fallen cops as Assistant Sub-Inspector Fareedullah and Constable Akhtar Zaman. The injured officers, Qudratullah and Abdul Malik, were shifted to the District Headquarters (DHQ) Hospital in Dera Ismail Khan for medical treatment.
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor Faisal Karim Kundi condemned the attack and sought a detailed report from the relevant authorities. He described the martyred police personnel as a source of pride for the nation and expressed his heartfelt condolences to their families and colleagues.
The governor also directed officials to ensure the best possible medical care for the injured officers and prayed for their speedy and complete recovery.
